Deezer will let listeners hide fully AI-generated music from search

With the toggle on, AI-generated tracks, albums and the artists attached to them vanish from search. Listeners can switch it off to bring them back.

Deezer plans to ship a switch before the end of 2026 that hides fully AI-generated music from search results. The streaming service announced the worldwide toggle in a press release on October 13, DJ Mag France reported.

With the filter on, tracks and albums flagged as fully AI-generated will not appear in search, and neither will the artist attached to them. Listeners can turn it off to bring that music back. CEO Alexis Lanternier says users clearly asked for the option. The filter covers only fully AI-generated music, and releases where an artist used an AI tool along the way are left out. Deezer has not said how the filter will handle tracks already saved in a library or added to a playlist.

The filter extends measures in place since early 2025. Deezer detects fully synthetic tracks and keeps them out of algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists, and since June 2025 it has labeled the albums concerned. Between January 2025 and August 2026, Deezer says, it removed more than 42 million AI-generated tracks from recommendations and identified more than 14 million albums. It also licenses the detection technology to distributors, rights holders and other streaming services.

The platform receives close to 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks a day, more than half of all daily deliveries on the busiest days. Those tracks make up between 1 and 3 percent of streams. Up to 85 percent of streams on fully AI-produced tracks were fraudulent in 2025, a figure that covers streams, not the share of tracks. Streams identified as manipulated are excluded from royalty calculations, whatever the type of music.

Deezer has not announced an exact launch date or how listeners will access the option.
