Gashouder fills ADE week with nine shows before its November reopening
Armin van Buuren, Eric Prydz and MOCHAKK headline a pre-opening run at the Amsterdam venue, which holds more than 3,500 people.
Gashouder has locked in nine shows for Amsterdam Dance Event, October 21 to 25, as a warm-up for its official reopening in November. It is a big room, with a capacity of more than 3,500, and the bookings say it intends to fill it.
Wednesday opens with Swan Lake Remixed for ADE, a collaboration between Dutch National Ballet and ISH Dance Collective. Later that night Armin van Buuren leads a bill with Benwal, Idemi and Olive Anguz. Eric Prydz gets a dedicated show of his own. I Hate Models and Nico Moreno host a night with Emilija and MAUDUX, and Job Jobse plays with BASHKKA and Ryan Elliott.
The house and tech-house end is well covered. MOCHAKK CALLING brings Eli Iwasa, ISAbella, Juliana X, MPH and Solarce Brothers. Saturday has Franky Rizardo Presents: FLOW with AAT, Cloonee, Easttown, Grace Arribas and Mason Collective, then Sammy Virji Curates with Riria, Rossi., SAIDAH and Sam Alfred. Josh Baker closes on Sunday with Alexandria, Marie Montexier and Marsolo.
The mix is the point. Trance, techno, house and UK-leaning club music share one building across five days, which looks less like a niche room and more like a venue trying to be a default stop on the ADE circuit. If you are building a showcase or pitching a late slot in Amsterdam, a room this size is now a competitor for the same crowd.
From November, Gashouder says it will widen its program to include live music, electronic music, art and performance. Tickets and details are on the venue’s site.
