FLEXfm groovebox pairs four-operator FM with a morphing joystick

Twisted-Electrons’ new hybrid groovebox has eight voices, integrated sampling and a joystick that morphs patches, FM algorithms and patterns. Pre-order is €999 with VAT until November 13.

The joystick on Twisted-Electrons’ new FLEXfm can rewrite an FM algorithm while the music is playing. The hybrid groovebox, designed by founder Alex Smith, is now up for pre-order after its appearance at Superbooth 2026, Magnetic reported.

Every one of the eight voices has its own analog filter and its own audio output. The sequencer has enough arrangement options to build complete tracks, and a software companion moves projects into a DAW.

The joystick has three morphing modes. One blends between four variations of a sound. A second changes the operator algorithms themselves, shifting the FM, AM and ring-modulation relationships between the four sound sources. The third moves between pattern variations. Outside of morphing, the stick doubles as a piano-roll cursor and handles pitch bends, scratching effects, phasing and other rhythmic manipulations. A piezo pad covers expressive playing and drum entry.

Sampling sits inside the synthesis engine, and samples can be combined with synthesized operators. FLEXfm has eight mono sample pools at 44.1 kHz, each holding roughly 13 seconds, with up to 16 slice markers. Samples can be recorded from the mono input or imported as WAV files, and the box builds 12-pad drum kits. Internal storage is 32GB for samples, songs, patches, recordings and other project data.

The introductory price is €999 including VAT until November 13, 2026. After that it is €999 excluding VAT, with applicable taxes added. Twisted-Electrons sells FLEXfm directly and ships internationally; import duties are charged separately. Delivery is estimated to begin before Christmas 2026.
