Avenger 2.5 beta adds a MIDI sequencer with a track per oscillator

imagebyai

Vengeance’s first public beta of Avenger 2.5 brings MPE and a sequencer that doubles as a modulation source. It’s free for Avenger 2 owners.

Vengeance Producer Suite has put a full MIDI sequencer inside Avenger. The 2.5.0-beta.1 gives each oscillator its own track, so you can write and edit parts without opening your DAW.

The piano roll has draw, brush and line modes, a velocity lane and CC lanes with curve editing. You can record live with a metronome and pre-count, or step by step. The arrangement view handles the usual part surgery: move, copy, cut, merge, stretch, reverse, with loop regions and multi-selection.

MPE support is the other headline. You can draw pitch curves for single notes and connect them to the notes that follow, and per-note modulation and humanize are included. Track velocity and MIDI controller tracks also work as new modulation sources that you can drag onto any target in the synth, which turns the sequencer into a modulator as much as a note editor.

An import browser takes ARP presets and MIDI files. Parts or whole tracks export as MIDI to your DAW. There is also an audio-to-MIDI function that converts WAV samples dropped on a track, though Vengeance labels it experimental.

The rack gets Sparkle Delay, Scorch Flanger and DYN EQ, a dynamic equalizer. The bitcrusher is reworked and gains a randomizer. Drum slots can hold up to seven extra round robin samples, the noise section has a new cross-modulation mode, and CPU use is lower in several modules, most of all the filters. Default undo depth goes from 20 to 50 steps.

This is the first public beta, so expect bugs, and think twice before loading it into a session you have to deliver. It is free to all Avenger 2 owners through their account. Avenger 2 costs 219 euros for new buyers.
