Behringer’s $199 Polykeys 61 puts polyphonic aftertouch on mini keys
The 61-key controller also has a ribbon, 16 pads and open-source firmware. Behringer has not announced a release date.
Behringer has teased the Polykeys 61, a mini-key MIDI controller with a target price of $199. Its main feature is polyphonic aftertouch. Each key sends its own pressure data instead of one value for the whole keyboard, so individual notes in a chord can be modulated separately on synths that support polyphonic expression.
Preliminary specs list 61 mini keys, a ribbon controller, 16 pads, nine faders, nine rotary controls, a display, and pitch and modulation wheels. The firmware is open source, so the community can develop for the platform.
Behringer has not said when it will release.
