Donner Music shows Sample Boy, a prototype handheld sampler
The recently leaked device appeared at Beijing Modular 26 with a seven-track sequencer and 480 seconds of stereo sampling at 48kHz/24-bit.
Donner Music has officially introduced Sample Boy, a handheld sampling workstation, at Beijing Modular 26. The recently leaked unit is a new prototype, Logan from Donner told Sonic State. The hardware is close to completion, and the software is still in development.
Sampling runs at 48kHz/24-bit, with 480 seconds available in stereo and double that in mono. Sources are the microphone, USB audio and master sampling. Input effects are filter, EQ, compressor and distortion, and the processing is recorded into the audio file. Start and end points can be set after recording, and quick slicing chops material automatically. The current spec supports up to 32 voices and a seven-track sequencer.
