Technics SL-1210MKX: 12 kg deck, ±50% pitch, €1,499
The new direct-drive turntable has ±4% and ±50% pitch modes and adjustable torque. It is set to cost €1,499.
Technics has announced the SL-1210MKX, a 12-kilogram direct-drive turntable that the Panasonic subsidiary says it built for the harsh conditions of modern clubs, Groove reported.
Technics targets wobble with a heavier, rebalanced chassis and reworked isolation feet, which are meant to absorb vibration without limiting mixing or scratching.
The SL-1200 debuted in 1972 and became a club and hip-hop standard from the MK2 in 1979. Technics paused the line in 2010, then continued it because demand stayed high.
Technics also widened the pitch options. A ±4% mode covers fine beatmatching, and a ±50% mode is there for experimental sessions. The coreless direct drive has adjustable torque, brake speed can be tuned, and there is a reverse function. The X in the name stands for “Expert” and “Extreme.”
The SL-1210MKX is set to cost €1,499. A release date has not been given.
