London’s Heaven listed as Asset of Community Value for second time

If the owner ever sells, community groups get six months to buy the London LGBTQIA+ club.

Westminster Council has listed Heaven as an Asset of Community Value for the second time. Owner Jeremy Joseph confirmed it in an Instagram post on September 29, Mixmag reported.

The listing followed a nomination from Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) CEO Michael Kill, the Evening Standard reported. “Heaven is more than a nightclub,” Kill said in a statement. “It is a place where generations have found community, freedom and belonging.”

Joseph said the listing “recognises not only Heaven’s history and cultural significance, but also the important role it continues to play in the LGBT+ community.”

In the years after the COVID-19 pandemic, Heaven entered an arbitration dispute with its landlord, The Arch Company, amid soaring rent hikes. Its licence was briefly removed in late 2024 after a member of security staff was charged with rape. He was found not guilty in May 2025.

Under the scheme, community groups have six months to buy the property if its owner ever wants to sell. Heaven first received the status in 2020, and it expired in January this year. The new listing protects the club for at least five years.
