Rock en Seine may be canceled in 2027 as construction blocks its site
Works at the Domaine de Saint-Cloud will close off access in late August, and both fallback options have drawbacks.
Construction planned at the Domaine de Saint-Cloud will block access to the Rock en Seine site for all of late August 2027, putting that year’s edition at risk, Tsugi reports. France Inter revealed the story. The festival says it drew more than 175,000 people to its last edition.
Two scenarios have been reported. The first would move the festival to early summer, July 12 to 16, 2027. That window is already crowded: Live Nation is launching a new festival, offtrack, at the Longchamp racecourse in the same period. The second would aim for a mini format in August with a single large stage, but the smaller capacity would make it impossible to recoup the cost of international acts. Tsugi calls outright cancellation the most feared outcome and one of the likeliest.
The festival also lost its public subsidies after a standoff with the region, whose president criticized the high ticket prices and the majority of private capital behind the event.
The festival has said nothing publicly.
