Tamber v2.0 Update: A Major Expansion of the Music Creation Platform

The Tamber v2.0 update marks a significant expansion of the company’s music creation platform, offering new tools and functions designed to enhance the creative process for musicians and producers. This major release brings native support for both Windows and Mac systems, enabling seamless integration with existing digital audio workstations (DAWs) and production tools.

Among the new features are five core applications—Gestures, Tamby, Librarian, City Packs, and Sonic Atlas—all of which are now available as dedicated apps within one connected suite. This update provides users with greater flexibility, allowing them to choose which elements of Tamber they wish to incorporate into their workflow. The enhancements reflect feedback from users and aim to further empower creative professionals in their music production endeavors.

The Tamber v2.0 update introduces significant enhancements and expansions to its music creation platform through five core tools. Each of these tools, which now operate as dedicated apps within a single connected suite, provide users with new and improved capabilities.

Gestures is a versatile instrument acting both as a standalone tool and a VST3/AU plugin, featuring built-in synthesizer and vocoder engines. This tool now offers reduced latency, allowing users to utilize it independently or within their preferred digital audio workstations (DAWs) for seamless music production.

Tamby functions as an in-session co-producer overlay, which can be accessed without interrupting the creative workflow. It features a chat history, allowing users to track interactions, and includes additional tools such as a Mini-Librarian search bar that floats over the DAW. New capabilities also include the Favourites and Crates tools, supporting more personalized music creation experiences.

Librarian, which has been completely rebuilt, facilitates streamlined access to a wide array of musical components. It integrates seamlessly with other tools in the suite, enhancing accessibility and user experience for music production.

City Packs releases new monthly content including original field recordings, providing fresh auditory materials that users can incorporate into their projects. This constant influx of new content contributes to the platform’s dynamic and evolving nature.

Sonic Atlas, a visual discovery app, now incorporates a favourite tool, enhancing user interaction by allowing musicians to visually explore and organize their sound preferences within the app’s interface. Together, these tools allow users more comprehensive control over their music creation process, making Tamber’s platform both innovative and user-centric.

Gestures — Tamber v2.0 focuses on this instrument as a flexible performance and production tool that is available both as a standalone application and as a VST3/AU plugin. The plugin formats allow Gestures to be loaded directly into DAW sessions while the standalone mode enables operation without a host application, reflecting the update’s aim to provide users with control over how they deploy Tamber tools in their workflows. By offering both deployment options, Tamber positions Gestures for use across a range of creative setups from live playing to in-studio production.

The updated Gestures contains built-in synth and vocoder engines, allowing it to produce its own sounds without relying on external sound sources. Tamber also reduced latency for Gestures in the v2.0 release, improving the instrument’s responsiveness during performance and recording. These internal sound engines together with latency improvements support using Gestures either on its own or integrated into sessions as a plugin.

Tamby in Tamber v2.0 appears as an in-session co-producer overlay that can be pulled up mid-take without losing your place. It includes a chat history that records interactions during a session. A Mini-Librarian search bar floats over the DAW, enabling quick searching and retrieval of material while remaining in the host application. New Favourites and Crates tools are available to support personalised organisation and selection during sessions. The overlay is designed to be accessed without interrupting the creative workflow.

Librarian was rebuilt from the ground up for v2.0 to provide reorganised, streamlined access to musical components. The redesigned Librarian integrates with the Mini-Librarian search bar so users can search their library without leaving the DAW. Favourites and Crates complement Librarian by offering curated storage and selection mechanisms for frequently used sounds. Together these updates give users more control over how those tools fit into their creative processes. These features launched in May 2026.

City Packs and Sonic Atlas

City Packs is one of the five core applications in the Tamber v2.0 suite and will deliver new packs on a monthly basis. Each City Pack contains original field recordings that users can incorporate into their projects. The monthly release schedule is intended to provide a steady stream of fresh source material for creative use within the connected suite.

Sonic Atlas is described as a visual discovery app within the same connected Tamber suite and now includes a favourite tool. The favourite tool allows users to mark preferred items within the visual discovery interface. This addition is part of the broader v2.0 updates that position Sonic Atlas alongside the other dedicated apps in the single-account suite.

CONCLUSION

The Tamber v2.0 update restructures the platform into a set of dedicated, connected applications that offer users flexible options for integrating those tools into their creative workflows. The suite architecture and new deployment formats allow individual components to be used independently or alongside existing digital audio workstations, which supports varied production approaches. The update also clarifies the product’s role in the studio: Tamber does not generate finished songs, stems, or samples and has never been trained on third-party audio. This combination of modular integration and a non-generative design defines the release’s position as a set of production tools rather than a source of completed musical works.
