Technics SL-1210MKX weighs 11.9 kg, adds ±4% and ±50% pitch
The SL-1210MK7 follow-up also gets reverse play, a quieter reset button and an LED stylus illuminator.
The Technics SL-1210MKX weighs 11.9 kg, up from 9.6 kg for the SL-1210MK7, and it adds ±4% and ±50% pitch ranges to the ±8% and ±16% already on the deck. Technics built the direct-drive turntable for club, festival and other live use, with input from DJs and sound engineers, MusicRadar reported. The deck also gets newly developed isolators.
The ±4% setting is meant for beatmatching and small tempo corrections, while ±50% is the wide option. A reverse play mode is new as well. Rotation speeds are 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm.
The motor is a Technics coreless direct-drive unit with adjustable start-up torque and brake speed. The platter is die-cast aluminum, the polished silver tonearm has height adjustment, and there is an electronic brake. Outputs are a standard phono RCA pair plus a larger ground terminal.
Smaller changes include a push-type reset button with reduced operational noise, inspired by earlier SL-1200 models, a glare-free LED stylus illuminator, and an improved headshell mount for a more secure fit.
Each deck comes with a removable dust cover and a special MKX slipmat and slipsheet, in black or silver. No cartridge is included.
MusicRadar lists a January 2027 ship date at £1,299/€1,499, while Gearnews lists the SL-1210MKX as available now from retailer Thomann at €1,499.
