Goldenvoice’s Head Trip puts an electronic lineup on one central stage
Goldenvoice’s two-day Head Trip in Indio had no overlapping sets, none shorter than 90 minutes, and Swedish House Mafia closing the weekend.
Goldenvoice’s Head Trip at the Empire Polo Club in Indio put a two-day electronic lineup on one central stage with no overlapping set times, Electronic Groove reported. Sets ran 90 minutes or longer, with time between performances.
The central stage came from Romain Pissenem’s High Scream team. It was futuristic and reflective, and it stood out against the desert. Listening areas sat apart from the main dance floor, among them Floating Points’ Sunflower Sound System. The roster across the event included Avalon Emerson, Ben UFO, Eris Drew & Octo Octa, Four Tet and Theo Parrish.
Saturday opened with a back-to-back from Seth Troxler and Ben Sterling. Peggy Gou then joined Four Tet behind the decks for a special set, and Under Construction, the project from FISHER and Chris Lake, followed with house. Calvin Harris was scheduled to close the night but cancelled because of weather.
Sunday continued with DJ Harvey. Peggy Gou played again, this time filling in because The Blessed Madonna could not perform. Dom Dolla and KETTAMA played a back-to-back, and Skrillex followed with a bass-heavy set. The grounds had green grass, shaded areas and a range of food and drink. Swedish House Mafia closed the weekend.
